TempoFlow separates a full-color frame into red, green, and blue color fields. The RGB LED backlight switches in sync with the liquid-crystal layer, allowing each pixel to present the three primary colors in sequence.
The red backlight illuminates first while the liquid-crystal layer modulates the red component of the image. The screen now presents the red color field for this frame.
In the next instant, the green backlight takes over. The liquid-crystal layer switches to the green component and presents the next color field at the same pixel locations.
The blue backlight illuminates while the liquid-crystal layer writes the blue component. The three primary-color fields required for the frame are now complete.
Red, green, and blue cycle rapidly within a single frame. The visual system integrates the three color fields over time, producing a complete full-color image.
